The Simplicity of Leadership

Survival, success, transformation – The range from the tangible to intangible. (An adaptation of Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of needs)

Chip Conley quotes Einstein, “Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted.”

King Jigme Singye of Bhutan, Consider an alternative measure success, why measure GDP, why not measure happiness? We don’t create happiness, but the habitat for happiness.

In contrast, the American model of ‘pursuit of happiness’ is not measured by the intangible of happiness, but what we can count, the amount of stuff that we have.

i wonder how a country would go about measuring happiness? Maintaining a happy country would be great as happiness influences other positive attributes such as productivity.
